The djembe is a percussion instrument played with bare hands, consisting of a chalice-shaped wooden shaft on which a skin is mounted. Originating in West Africa, the instrument is carved from a single piece of solid wood and has three parts: head, voice and foot. It can be played with a bass, slap or tonic sound. The Masters series replaces the Stage djembes. Like their predecessors, they are carved from a piece of mahogany from a Thai plantation. They are strung with a traditional string system. Supplied with cover.

In the early 90s, the world music scene began to emerge with new trends. A new craze called "drum circles" began to emerge and meet with success, at the same time as a new type of Latin "Afro-Cuban" sound was still topping the pop charts at the Miami Sound Machine, thanks in particular to an instrument called the conga. This hand-held percussion instrument quickly became a household name, especially for those who wanted to make music as a hobby, as it was easy to handle and quickly produced catchy sounds. For well-being, for pleasure, for new musical perspectives, everyone wanted one! Latin music was booming at the same time.
The KMC Music group decided to include Toca Percussion in its product catalogue for its range of hand percussion instruments and dedicated accessories. It was THE brand for 'Afro-Cuban' sounds. The brand became a serious alternative to the usual tenors of music.
Today, Toca offers a wide catalogue of percussion instruments and accessories, in a range of designs and colours to suit everyone. The brand has become a world leader, and continues to offer fun and quality!
