The AEA R88 passive ribbon microphone has been ideally designed for MS stereo recording, offering excellent mono compatibility and total control over the width of the stereo image.

Presentation
The AEA R88 stereo ribbon microphone has been designed for recording instruments and stereo ensembles. This is made possible by the XY position of its capsules (oriented at 90°), which provide exceptional stereo capture and excellent off-axis response.
The R88 microphone is ideal for recording chamber music, overheads on drums, stereo pick-up on piano, brass sections and other stereo applications.
The very high quality of the R88's passive electronics ensures a high dynamic range with minimal distortion, giving the mic a solid bass response down to 20 Hz and extreme smoothness in the high frequencies, very flattering for complex sounds such as cymbals, strings and woodwinds.
The AEA R88 microphone can be used with Blumlein and M-S stereo pick-up techniques. The matt black finish makes it even more discreet for live recording.
It comes with an integrated suspension clamp to reduce any vibrations that may be transmitted through the mic stand.
