Designed for Guy Pratt, the Interstellar head is inspired by the ABM-900. It features a 9-band EQ with the ability to adjust the tube saturation to your liking. Retaining the features, compression and sub-harmonics of the ABM-EVO IV, in line with Guy’s specifications, the Interstellar is a versatile and feature-rich head.

Ashdown has taken the ABM concept and focused on tube-based equalisation and saturation to create the Interstellar, which breathes new life into the ABM’s power, reliability and sonic sophistication!
Guy Pratt has played on a multitude of recordings and shared the stage with some of the world’s biggest bands. Having played through Ashdown amps throughout his career, a collaboration began with the brand, initially for personal use only.
The amp had to be compatible with his pair of Ashdown CL-310 speakers, have an input for his Taurus pedal and look as though it came from the 1960s.
Next came the task of finding a name for the amp, and after some thought, ‘Interstellar’ was chosen. The name was inspired by the band Saucer Full of Secrets, featuring Nick Mason and Guy, who were performing Pink Floyd’s very earliest songs live for the first time in over 50 years. At their concert at the Roundhouse in London, Ashdown was surprised to see Guy at the front of the stage, a role he’d never really had before.
Inspired by the evening’s atmosphere and Syd Barrett’s music, finally performed live by Guy in such an enigmatic way, Ashdown was convinced of his interest in this music as much as in Guy as an artist.
Having previously only ever manufactured bespoke products for Guy, Ashdown wanted this time to create something original that could be made available worldwide under the name Interstellar: a powerful 600-watt bass amp head, beautifully handcrafted at Ashdown’s Custom Shop in the UK.
