A 15-inch driver in a combo that weighs less than 17 kilos: the Ashdown SBM-115-500 plays with the laws of physics to give bassists what they really want - presence, and plenty of freedom. This configuration, powered by 250 watts internally (extendable to 500 watts with an additional baffle), produces a wide, enveloping sound field. Perfect for filling a small club without a PA system, or for giving your studio sound that solid, natural foundation!
The preamp is the brains of the operation. The passive/active switch and -15dB attenuator adapt its welcome to any type of bass, from vintage models to high-output instruments. The Drive circuit, which recreates the harmonic warmth of tube saturation, adds grit and body without ever sacrificing the clarity of fundamental bass. The five-band EQ and Pre-shape filter let you change the tonal colour in depth, for punchy jazz or square-shouldered rock.
The stage is its natural playground. The balanced XLR DI output sends a clean signal to the mixing desk and the TSR (Send/Return) effects loop integrates your pedalboard. A dedicated footswitch output activates the Drive on command. For late-night rehearsals or to record an idea, the headphone output with speaker mute preserves the peace of the neighbourhood without altering your tone.
