Axel Technology - Carte Dante pour FOX3

The Dante card expands the FOX 3’s connectivity options by enabling it to exchange audio signals directly over an Ethernet network. It provides the silence detector and ChangeOver system with a dedicated interface for Audio over IP environments, without altering the analogue and AES/EBU audio connections already available on the unit.

The interface provides 2 stereo inputs and 2 stereo outputs. Audio sources from the network can thus be integrated into the FOX 3’s routing system, whilst signals processed or selected by the processor can be routed to other compatible equipment. This capability complements the FOX 3’s analogue, digital, MPX and IP inputs and offers greater flexibility in designing audio paths.

Each stream benefits from independent level control, allowing levels to be adjusted without necessarily applying the same correction to all signals. The card also features dedicated sample rate conversion, a particularly useful feature in digital set-ups where multiple pieces of equipment may operate at different sample rates.

Connectivity is not limited to the Dante protocol. The interface also supports AES67 and SMPTE ST 2110-30, enabling the FOX 3 to integrate into audio-over-IP architectures based on different transport standards. This compatibility broadens its range of applications within modern broadcast infrastructures.

This feature is fully integrated into the FOX 3’s routing and ChangeOver functions. Network sources can therefore be included in the failover scenarios configured within the processor, in the same way as the other available input types. Should a source fail, the system can thus utilise another input according to the defined priorities.

Ultimately, the Dante card is a targeted extension for installations wishing to upgrade the FOX 3 to a networked architecture. It provides four additional stereo streams whilst retaining the unit’s own control and monitoring logic, particularly via its web interface.
