Axel Technology - DML Audio

Axel Technology DML Audio is a professional audio logging and archiving system designed to continuously record a radio station’s programmes. The principle is simple: to maintain a permanent record of what has been broadcast, for a predefined period, so that content can be retrieved at a specific date and time.

The system can be configured to retain 30, 60, 90, 180 or 365 days’ worth of recordings, depending on the available storage capacity and the selected audio quality. Recording operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with no gaps between individual files. When available space reaches a pre-defined threshold, the oldest recordings are automatically replaced by the newest ones. The system therefore does not require regular intervention to manually manage the archives.

DML Audio supports a wide variety of sources, ranging from analogue and digital AES/EBU signals to IP audio environments such as Dante or Livewire, as well as FM and AM tuner cards. IP streams can also be captured via various protocols, including UDP, RTP, RTSP, RTMP, HTTP, Shoutcast and Icecast. Capture can be carried out in mono or stereo, at 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz, with various formats and levels of compression.

Archives are managed using DML Player, which allows users to browse recordings via a calendar, jump directly to a specific date and time, compare multiple channels simultaneously, and select a precise section using Mark-In and Mark-Out points. The clips can then be exported or converted into various formats.

System monitoring is carried out in parallel by diagnostic tools and DML Monitor, with the option to receive alerts via email or SMS in the event of a loss of audio, a stream issue, an abnormal bitrate or insufficient archive capacity. Finally, optional GPS synchronisation provides an accurate time reference for the purposes of certifying recordings.
