Axel Technology - Falcon D7

The Falcon D7 has been designed as a comprehensive audio control centre for broadcast facilities where sound quality and programme continuity must work in tandem. Its 5-band digital architecture allows the signal to be precisely shaped using various processing stages: AGC, compression, limiting, equalisation, stereo enhancement, voice processing and brightness control. Together, these features offer great flexibility in crafting a sound identity tailored to a radio station, TV channel or digital audio service.

It also stands out for its integrated audio processing functions. Loudness control supports the EBU R 128 and ITU R BS.1770 4 recommendations for both analogue and digital outputs. The changeover function, combined with the silence detector, can monitor the various available sources and automatically select another input when a signal becomes unavailable. Sources can come from analogue, AES/EBU, IP, AoIP or optional Dante inputs, or from the built-in audio player.

The Falcon D7 accepts signals up to 20 kHz, enabling it to be used with DAB, HD Radio, Sirius XM and Web Radio services, as well as in TV environments. Its internal player can be used as a backup or test source, whilst the signal generator facilitates testing and maintenance operations.

Monitoring can be carried out remotely via a web browser thanks to the built-in web server. Network functions also include SNMP, multiple TCP and UDP ports, as well as various alerting and communication options with surrounding equipment. Six GPI inputs and four relay outputs enable the Falcon D7 to be integrated into an automated infrastructure.

Finally, the ability to save settings to a microSD card facilitates operational monitoring and data analysis. Housed in a 1U steel and aluminium rack-mount chassis, the Falcon D7 thus provides a complete solution for processing, monitoring, securing and distributing an audio programme with a minimum of intermediate equipment.
