Robert Trujillo has a longstanding passion for documentaries: he produced Jaco, a film about the life of Jaco Pastorius, using previously unseen archive footage, 8mm photos and testimonials from artists such as Herbie Hancock, Sting and Flea.
The project had been close to his heart since the 90s: he befriended Pastorius's son, John, and insisted on making this film 'properly', even if it cost him a lot personally.
In concert, Trujillo likes to take up challenges: he learns songs that Metallica don't often play, like Orion or Dyers Eve, so that he's always ready to bring them out at a moment's notice.
