It comes in the form of a metal tube with an elastic strap. The tool works with a ratchet system that allows precise adjustment without damaging the strings. You can move it around without having to detach it each time.
What's more, the elastic strap maintains balanced pressure along the entire length of the neck so that the notes are not distorted.
This Dunlop 7828 capo is often referred to as the Bill Russell capo, in reference to Bill Russell, an American luthier who designed this type of simple, functional elastic capo in the 1970s.
Contrary to what you might think, this is not a tribute to the famous basketball player of the same name. This Bill Russell was a craftsman on the American folk scene, deeply involved in the world of acoustic instruments such as the banjo and ukulele. He popularised this ultra-light, quick-to-use version, perfect for musicians on the move or those who wanted a space-saving tool.
Dunlop then took this design and marketed it under the name "Bill Russell Capo", retaining the original spirit: efficient, simple and affordable.

Willard H. Russell, born in 1889 in the United States, was an American inventor and entrepreneur. In 1931, he patented an innovative elastic capo which was a great commercial success. In 1969, he founded the Bill Russell Capo Company, which he ran until his death in 1973. His invention marked the history of music by offering an affordable, practical and durable accessory.
