Left-handed, Hendrix played on a right-handed guitar that he flipped over, creating a unique sound. He was a paratrooper in the US army before devoting himself to music. Admired by Eric Clapton, he dazzled him from their first meeting in London. He recorded in his own studio, Electric Lady Studios. An avid sci-fi fan, he drew inspiration from it for his lyrics. His last concert was in Germany on 6 September 1970.
