Jimi Hendrix started out as a backing guitarist for artists such as Little Richard and Ike & Tina Turner before founding his own group, The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Left-handed, he played a right-handed guitar, inverted and re-strung. His debut album Are You Experienced rocked the world in 1967. Passionate about science fiction and poetry, he often wrote surrealistic lyrics. He died in London in 1970, leaving behind a legendary body of work.
