Guitar Strings

The Ernie Ball 010085 Slinky nickel wound 8.5 string, made of tinned steel, slides smoothly. On stainless steel or nickel frets, there is no premature wear. Mixed with heavier gauges, they balance attacks well without weakening. You'll get sound that holds up, even when things get hot.

ARTICLE N° 104689
The Ernie Ball 010085 Slinky Nickel Wound string features an 8.5 gauge, which falls somewhere between flexibility and sustain. More flexible than a 9 gauge, more stable than an 8 gauge, it facilitates bends while maintaining response.

On an acoustic guitar, the tin-plated and tempered carbon steel adds bite. On an electric guitar, it maintains a brilliant shine. The midrange is well defined.

The 100 cm (40") taper-free strings fit most guitars. On some with floating bridges, the string doesn't require much adjustment.

The tin plating provides good protection against oxidation. The sustain effect remains subtle but noticeable.

When playing aggressively, the tuning holds well. Even after repeated bends, the string stays firmly in place.
