Electric guitar, model American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster MN Prototype White + case, by Fender US

ARTICLE N° 101783
The Fender® American Vintage II Series is a stunning reimagining of the groundbreaking designs that changed the course of music history. Each of these guitars and basses delivers authentic Fender tone and craftsmanship, with period-accurate bodies, necks and hardware, premium finishes and pickups configured to match the original’s year.

Just one year after introducing the Broadcaster®, Fender received a telegram from Fred Gretsch Mfg. Co., forcing it to rename its flagship electric guitar. Inspired by the growing popularity of television, the first Telecaster, with its black pickguard, was released in 1951. It has been in production ever since. The Telecaster® was surprisingly simple, yet completely revolutionary. It allowed the greatest number of people to play a solid-body electric guitar and inspired countless musicians.

The 1951 American Vintage II Telecaster features an ash body. Its thick maple neck with a “’51 U” profile, combined with its 7.25” (184 mm) fingerboard radius and vintage tall frets, offers an incomparable touch. The narrow spacing of the two dots on the 12th fret and the single Phillips screw located on the nut of the neck truss rod are characteristic elements of the models produced in 1951. The bridge, with its three brass saddles, the “Fender Deluxe” in-line tuners and the Pure Vintage ’51 Telecaster pickups produce that classic twang and give the guitar an authentic Fender style.
