The Hummingbird has a distinctive piece of history: when it was launched in 1960, it was Gibson’s very first square-shouldered dreadnought. Its earliest models even featured an adjustable bridge, allowing the action to be adjusted directly at the nut. The guitar subsequently played a part in the evolution of rock music: the Rolling Stones, in particular, used it to compose some of their iconic tracks. Today, Gibson reproduces certain historic Hummingbird models using thermally aged spruce, Murphy Lab ageing and details faithful to the 1960 models.
