Gibson - LG-2 50s Original Antique Natural

The Gibson LG-2 50s Original Antique Natural, an acoustic folk guitar, draws on the design that defined the Gibson catalogue of the 1950s, brought up to date in the 50s Original series. The Small Body style and LG-2 shape retain compact proportions, making it ideal for both home and stage use.

The solid mahogany back and sides feature a solid Sitka spruce top, edged with three-layer binding on the front and single-layer binding on the back. The whole instrument is finished in a glossy nitrocellulose lacquer in Antique Natural. The slanted rectangular bridge, with a closed slot, made of rosewood and bone, featuring TUSQ tuning pegs, transmits the energy of the strings without dampening them. The traditional scalloped X-bracing maintains a round low end, whilst the teardrop-shaped tortoiseshell pickguard completes the silhouette.

The mahogany neck, joined to the body via a compound dovetail joint, features a Rounded profile over a 24.75-inch scale length. The rosewood fingerboard, with a 12-inch radius, features 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The bone nut, calibrated to 43.82 mm, and the adjustable truss rod, marked in black ink, ensure precise tuning right up to the top of the neck.

The Grover tuners with cream-coloured knobs maintain tuning without drift. Whether on stage or in rehearsal, the L.R. Baggs VTC pickup, fitted beneath the nut, and its preamp are controlled via volume and tone knobs housed in the soundhole, before feeding into a 6.35 mm jack output, which also doubles as a strap lug. Strings .012 to .053, model OCSBLGAN, nickel-plated hardware, it comes in a hard case.
