Presentation
The Hiwatt DR88 is a tube head designed for bassists and guitarists looking for a clear, precise sound with the possibility of achieving a slight natural overdrive. Its 100W of power, delivered by two KT88 tubes, allows you to maintain a generous headroom while exploiting the dynamics of each note.
The three 12AX7 preamp tubes and the 12AT7 provide detailed reproduction of the nuances of your playing, while the three-band EQ and Presence control allow you to fine-tune the tone.
This model features 2 channels, Normal and Brilliant, each with independent Hi and Low inputs. These channels can be bridged for extra punch and a more present signal, ideal for passages where the bass or guitar needs to be heard in a dense mix.
Outputs for external speakers, both jack and Speakon, allow the amp to be connected to different types of loudspeaker and the impedance to be adapted to 4, 8 or 16 Ω according to your needs.
Each DR88 is fully hand-wired in the UK to Harry Joyce standards, with vintage Partridge™ transformers, ensuring reliable operation and immediate response.
This attention to detail ensures a faithful reproduction of Dave Reeves' original 60s circuit, with a unique sonic character and Hiwatt's signature smooth highs.
The DR88 is effective with a wide variety of instruments: basses, guitars, synths or keyboards. It retains the transparency needed to enhance your effects pedals without the need for a loop, while offering the possibility of more saturated textures thanks to channel bridging.
Lightweight and robust, it's easy to transport on stage or in the studio, and its intuitive settings make it accessible even to musicians new to Hiwatt amps.

To find out more...
Dave Reeves was a British engineer and the founder of Hiwatt, a famous brand of amplifiers for guitar and bass. After working for Sound City and Mullard, in the 1960s he created his own models, designed to be robust, reliable and deliver a clear sound even at high volume. His amps quickly won over legendary bands such as The Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, helping to define rock's famous "British sound". Although he died in 1981, his influence lives on and Hiwatt amplifiers are still built according to his principles.
The Original HIWATT is still hand-wired to Dave Reeves' exacting specifications, using only the highest quality British speakers, components and audio transformers.
