Amplifier Heads for Guitar

The Park P50B Super Bass is a tube head for guitar and bass, capturing the historic character of Plexi with EL34s and a transistor rectifier. Its two channels and four inputs offer a wide range of sounds, modulated with Mitch Colby push/pull potentiometers and the PPIMV. From 50 W nominal to 70 W cranked, it remains precise and expressive, true to its legendary heritage, even at low volume, for inspiring playing.

The Hiwatt Park P50B Super Bass is a tube head that embodies the spirit of the legendary 'Black Flag' while offering surprising responsiveness. Originally designed for bass, it quickly won over guitarists like Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, who appreciate its bite and versatility. The EL34 tubes bring that typically British colour and focus to the midrange, while the transistor rectifier adds a slight compression effect, giving every note a precise, dynamic feel.

With its two channels and four inputs, the P50B lets you explore a wide range of sounds. You can even 'twin' the channels for richer saturation and an extended tonal spectrum, ideal for moving from a powerful clean sound to full, expressive saturation. Built-in Mitch Colby push/pull potentiometers offer additional control over the upper midrange and bright caps, allowing you to finely sculpt the sound to suit your guitars and playing style.

Despite its impressive power output - 50W nominal, 70W at full power - the P50B remains pleasant to play even at moderate volume thanks to the PPIMV (Post Phase Inverter Master Volume) system. This control recaptures all the dynamics and character of the classic Plexi without sacrificing the ability to saturate at low volume, making every session as inspiring as the historic recordings that forged its reputation.

Entirely hand-wired and finished in black Tolex, this head is more than just an amp: it's a piece of musical history, a precise and versatile tool that retains its vintage charm while adapting to the modern demands of professional guitarists.

Jim Marshall is best known for running a shop where local musicians could meet, swap and try out equipment. He sold his amps worldwide under the Marshall brand, but in the UK he used the name Park Amplifiers. The shop served as a valuable testing ground for new products and kept Jim in touch with the exploding UK music scene. Park amps, often described as 'a bit hotter', are highly sought after in the UK as they are much rarer than their Marshall-branded equivalents.

Mitch Colby has devoted his life to working with Marshall Amplification and has spent a dozen years perfecting the Park range. He's taken the best existing circuits and painstakingly recreated the original sounds and tonal signature of Jim's early days. In addition, Mitch has designed four new amplifiers to carry on the spirit and incredible legacy of Jim Marshall and the Park Amplifiers.
