The Hiwatt SE212F Purpleback is a baffle that condenses the brand's sonic heritage into a format that is still transportable. Behind its sober appearance are two 12" Fane Acoustics™ Purpleback loudspeakers, developed especially for Hiwatt.
With a total power of 300 W and an impedance of 8 ohms, it offers an impressive reserve of volume, capable of maintaining a clear and detailed sound even at high levels. It's a major asset for guitarists looking for both precision and headroom, without fear of premature saturation.
These speakers are more than just components: they carry on a tradition begun in the 70s at the request of David Reeves. Their moulded frame design and generous dynamic range are directly linked to the unique sonic character of Hiwatt amplifiers. Whether playing clean or overdriving hard, the Purpleback delivers every nuance with authority, while preserving the balance of the spectrum.
The cabinet, made from 18mm birch plywood, is designed to withstand touring while maximising natural resonance. The drivers are mounted low to accentuate the projection of low frequencies, giving this 2x12" a surprising fullness for its size. Each unit is hand-wired and tested in the UK, guaranteeing impeccable consistency.
