The Hiwatt Studio/Stage 20/40 Head Combo 1x12 Purpleback 150 is a combo designed for guitarists who want to enjoy authentic Hiwatt sound in a compact format. Its power can be selected between 20 W and 40 W, offering great flexibility for playing in the studio, at home or on small stages, while retaining the sonic character for which the brand is renowned. The gain is easily adjusted from clean to natural overdrive, delivering a rich, dynamic sound at a perfectly usable volume.
The combo is equipped with a Fane Purpleback 12" 150 W loudspeaker, specially designed for Hiwatt. This driver guarantees a clear, powerful sound even at high volumes, and projects the tube overdrive with precision. With its moulded frame and maximum headroom, it faithfully transmits every nuance of playing, from delicate arpeggios to saturated riffs. To find out more...
Dave Reeves was a British engineer and the founder of Hiwatt, a famous brand of amplifiers for guitar and bass. After working for Sound City and Mullard, in the 1960s he created his own models, designed to be robust, reliable and deliver a clear sound even at high volume. His amps quickly won over legendary bands such as The Who, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, helping to define rock's famous "British sound". Although he died in 1981, his influence lives on and Hiwatt amplifiers are still built according to his principles.
