Michel Lâg-Chavarria, master luthier and founder of Lâg guitars, set out on a crazy project to create and produce top-of-the-range guitars in Toulouse, in the south-west of France, a city renowned for its artists and very active music scene.
He began by opening a repair shop dedicated to all stringed instruments. This shop first brought him knowledge and experience, as well as many customers from all walks of life through the making of custom guitars.
Then, with the help of many musician friends who helped build the image of Lâg guitars on stage and in the studio, he successfully introduced his first creations to guitar retailers and musicians, first in France and then throughout Europe.
The 'Lâg Haute-Couture' workshop is now located in Bédarieux, in a beautiful region of south-east France, close to the Mediterranean, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves.
With the help of talented designers and experienced technicians, the brand's philosophy has always been to avoid the clichés of overpriced guitars and conventional designs, in order to bring refinement and style to the world of guitars.
In 2002, a meeting with Gérard Garnier, Chairman of the ALGAM Group, France's largest musical instrument distributor, was a major step forward in the brand's creative and international development.
