Presentation
In a mix, reverb isn’t just used to add an echo: it helps define a sound’s position in space, create a sense of depth and ensure consistency between tracks recorded under different conditions. The MPX Native Reverb has been designed to recreate this sonic dimension directly within a computer environment, without the need for an external hardware processor.
It is based on a single, versatile plug-in capable of offering seven distinct reverb characters: Small Plate, Large Plate, Small Hall, Large Hall, Small Chamber, Large Chamber and Room. This setup allows you to switch quickly from a short, subtle ambience to a much more spacious environment. A ‘Small Room’, for example, can be used to breathe a little life into a vocal track recorded very close to the microphone, whilst a ‘Large Hall’ can accompany a piano, a pad or an orchestral section requiring greater spaciousness.
The more than 100 included presets provide a particularly handy starting point during a production session. They allow you to quickly select a suitable ambience before fine-tuning the settings to suit the track. The interface brings together all the essential parameters on a single screen to minimise the number of steps required and make adjustments easier during mixing.
The MPX Native Reverb is therefore equally at home in a home studio as it is in a professional studio. In a pop production, it can help to make the vocals stand out in the foreground; in electronic music, it can be used to create very short or much more enveloping spaces; for a soundtrack, it also allows you to alter the perception of a soundscape without changing the original recording.
