Lexicon - PCM Native Reverb (licence)

The Lexicon PCM Native Reverb brings a selection of seven reverbs from the Lexicon range into the software environment. Whilst a single reverb can quickly become too distinctive for certain applications, this bundle allows you to choose an algorithm suited to each element of the mix: a ‘Room’ to add a touch of presence to a dry take, a ‘Plate’ to make a vocal or snare drum stand out, or a ‘Concert Hall’ to place a sound source within a much larger space.

The seven modules on offer – Vintage Plate, Plate, Hall, Room, Random Hall, Concert Hall and Chamber – thus cover a wide variety of situations. In music, they can be used to create a coherent sense of depth between instruments and to give arrangements greater depth and dimension. In post-production, they can also be used to reposition a vocal, an effect or a sound element within a credible acoustic environment.

The interface allows you to quickly adjust key parameters whilst providing access to more in-depth editing of the algorithms. Input and output meters make it easy to monitor levels, whilst the graphic equaliser allows you, amongst other things, to fine-tune the behaviour of early and late reflections. A multi-dimensional graphical display also provides a real-time representation of the reverb’s frequency response.

Presets are another key feature for day-to-day work. They can be saved in a DAW-independent format, making it easy to transfer them from one workstation to another. The PCM Native Reverb therefore integrates equally well into a music production session as it does into a post-production environment requiring various types of acoustic spaces.
