Lexicon - PCM Total Bundle (Licence)

The Lexicon PCM Total Bundle is a particularly comprehensive collection for users who wish to have a coherent set of processing tools available directly within their workstation. Rather than limiting its use to the creation of artificial spaces, the bundle brings together processing tools capable of being applied at various stages of a production, from traditional mixing through to sound design and post-production.

The collection comprises 14 plug-ins, divided into two complementary families. The seven PCM reverbs – Chamber, Concert Hall, Hall, Plate, Random Hall, Room and Vintage Plate – allow a sound source to be placed in a wide variety of environments. A vocal track can thus be given a subtle ambience designed to preserve its natural quality, whilst an instrument, a pad or a film sound element can be projected into a much larger, more immersive space.

The seven complementary effects open up a different approach to processing, with Pitch Shift, MultiVoice Pitch, Chorus, Resonant Chords, Random Delay, Dual Delay and Stringbox. They can be used to thicken a track, create artificial overdubs, move a sound source within the stereo image, generate complex repetitions or completely transform an existing sound. For film scoring, this combination is particularly interesting: a vocal take, a sound effect or a single note can become a much more expressive soundscape thanks to the combination of several processing techniques.

The bundle also allows you to combine the two families. For example, a pitch-shifting effect can be fed into a reverb, or a processed delay can be set to a particularly long delay time to create a trailing sound that accompanies a transition or a scene.

The interfaces feature real-time graphical displays, input, output and feedback meters, as well as stereo and phase control tools. This information allows you to monitor the behaviour of the processing without, however, replacing the need to listen, which remains essential for determining the final setting.
