Multi-effects

The PCM96 Surround Digital is a hardware processor designed for advanced spatial and audio effects processing. It combines Lexicon algorithms with parallel stereo and surround configurations, a 32-bit floating-point digital architecture and AES connectivity suitable for professional environments.

ARTICLE N° 126645
The Lexicon PCM96 Surround Digital is designed for set-ups where reverb must not only add depth to a mix, but also integrate precisely into a multi-channel audio system. Building on Lexicon’s expertise in digital processing, this processor brings together a comprehensive set of algorithms designed for both music production and post-production.

One of its key features is its configurability. The PCM96 Surround can operate in various configurations, including parallel stereo and surround, allowing its use to be adapted to the structure of the audio system. In post-production, for example, it can be used to create the acoustics of a scene, add more depth to an ambience, or work separately on different elements of a multichannel mix. In a music studio, its processing can be applied to a vocal track, a drum kit, an instrumental ensemble or an entire bus to create a coherent soundscape around the production.

The unit features 50 Lexicon reverbs and effects, with families ranging from Rooms and Halls to Plates, Delays, Chorus/Flange, Pitch and Resonant Chords. The Lexicon Surround Room algorithm specifically offers the ability to create acoustic environments suited to musical and cinematic applications.

The PCM96 Surround also features 32-bit floating-point processing and supports sampling rates of up to 96 kHz, enabling it to integrate into demanding professional digital workflows. AES inputs and outputs, BNC word clock and MIDI connections facilitate its integration with mixing desks, interfaces, workstations and other studio equipment.

With over 2,200 factory presets, 768 user slots and the option for additional storage on CompactFlash, the PCM96 Surround thus constitutes a veritable hardware library of spatial and creative processing effects, capable of remaining at the heart of a setup throughout the various stages of a project.

Spotlight on

Lexicon is for many a brand of reference in terms of audio interfaces, with the IONIX series. You will also find the Lexicon Alpha, Omega and Lambda, more affordable but nonetheless very effective.
