Presentation
The Manuel Rodriguez Gipsy Kings Signature Legacy Maestro Rouge flamenco guitar has an instantly recognisable voice: a dry, sharp attack, that crystalline snap that aficionados call picado, followed by a short, concentrated resonance typical of the gitano style. It's the acoustic signature of pure, uncompromising flamenco, the kind that Nicolas Reyes has shaped on stage for decades with the Gipsy Kings.
This voice is the result of lutherie built over time. The 1950 fine-grain spruce top - from the private collection of Manuel Rodriguez II - has a fibrous density that unleashes transients with shocking precision. The solid cypress sides from the gardens of Aranjuez, harvested in 1940, add the slightly dry shine and lightness of body characteristic of Madrid's court flamenco. The ebony fingerboard hardens the playing surface for a smooth glide under fast rasgueados, and the cedar neck transmits vibrations without damping, making each note palpable in the hand. The 8 cm body depth promotes direct projection rather than reverberation, ideal for acoustic stages. The 12-hole rosewood bridge anchors the strings with an organic density that enriches the bass, its engraved GK crown logo recalling the instrument's artistic filiation. The 50 mm top nut offers generous spacing between the strings, a decisive comfort for difficult flamenco techniques. A transparent protective plate protects the top from knocks without altering the aesthetics of the wood.
The instrument is designed for intensive stage performance. Fishman Presys Pro Blend preamplification ensures amplified reproduction faithful to natural acoustics, without artificial coloration. Fine-tuned Wittner Flamenco tuning machines guarantee impeccable tuning stability under the heat of the stage lights. Hannabach 815HTC strings - high tension, German-made - balance responsiveness and sustain for expressive, enduring playing. The double-action tuning bar allows the neck relief to be fine-tuned to suit the climatic demands of the tour. The numbered label, hand-signed by Nicolas Reyes, certifies the authenticity of this instrument.
