You may have come across a kalimba before, but the Meinl PKA17AW Solid Pickup Kalimba is nothing like a souvenir from an artisanal market. It's built on a solid body of American walnut, giving it a warm acoustic response and good bass response. Its 17 chromed steel blades are engraved for easy identification without frowning, and are tuned in C major. You can tweak them in any order, and the result will always be harmonious. The instrument can be played privately or collectively: on your lap, on stage, or in a corner of the studio, all it needs is a little curiosity and two thumbs wide awake.
Where this kalimba takes a small step forward is that it can be amplified on the fly, thanks to its built-in piezo sensor and its well thought-out controls: general volume, tone and FX volume for playing with ambiences.
