Drift Theory is a sonic expansion with an assertive grain. Native Instruments designed it to shake up rhythmic habits and colour your hip hop productions with raw, vibrant material. Analogue saturations, cassette textures and soulful swing intertwine to give life to a sound identity that's free, slightly dirty, but always musical.

Presentation
With Drift Theory, each sound kit is organised around carefully assembled patterns, designed to speed up the writing process while retaining a real rhythmic personality. The grooves have a marked flexibility, inherited from experimental hip hop, and favour off-kilter but coherent beats, capable of accompanying an instrumental project as well as a more narrative vocal production.
This sonic expansion brings to the fore saturated synths, weathered keyboards and processed vocals reminiscent of well-worn analogue chains. Native Instruments relies here on a deliberately imperfect aesthetic, where each sound has an asperity, a colour, sometimes even a slight instability, reinforcing the organic sensation when playing and programming on MPC.
The influence of the Los Angeles beat scene can be felt in the way the sounds breathe and leave space for the groove. This approach encourages an instinctive relationship with the tool, where creation comes as much from error as from initial intention.
Drift Theory thus accompanies very free production phases, favouring rapid experimentation, subtle variations and moving arrangements. The whole package creates a solid basis for developing a personal universe, without locking the user into a fixed framework, with the pleasant sensation of piloting a living sound material, sometimes unpredictable, but always inspiring.

Designed for inquisitive producers, this sound collection encourages cross-fertilisation of styles and unexpected rhythmic constructions. The drums pack a dense, often textured punch that blends naturally with modern, lo-fi or more abstract hip hop arrangements.
As for the melodic elements, they interact easily with external samples, building up rich, evolving compositions that are sometimes deliberately wobbly, but always expressive and coherent over time.

- standalone MPC 3.4 or higher
- MPC X Special Edition
- MPC Key 61
