The CR Traditionnal 5-string Amber Stain from NS Design is aimed at double bassists looking to expand their range while retaining the touch and feel of an acoustic double bass. The main difference with the 4-string version is the extra string, available in Low B or High C, which opens up new musical possibilities: deep bass lines for modern jazz or orchestral music, or extra high notes for contemporary arrangements and melodic explorations. Despite the extra string, the 106 cm pitch length is retained, guaranteeing tension and ergonomics close to those of a classic acoustic double bass.

The solid maple body and neck with flamed top provide the same stability, clarity and resistance to climatic variations as the 4-string version. The Amber Stain finish recalls the traditional aesthetic, and the graduated, asymmetrical fingerboard ensures a smooth response from one note to the next. The discreet marker on the back of the neck makes it easy to keep your thumb in the right position, even on the extended fifth string.

The NS Electric Traditional D'Addario strings and Polar Piezo system allow for nuanced bowing and pizzicato playing. The additional string is particularly expressive thanks to its specially adapted pick-up mode, delivering a rich, balanced sound with precise control of attack and sustain. The active EMG 18 V electronics retain a comfortable dynamic reserve for live performance or studio recording.

Like the 4-string version, this one comes with an adjustable End Pin Stand and a custom-fit gig bag, making it easy to take on stage and off.
