The 1.5-inch wide hoops distribute tension around the head, helping your tuning to remain even throughout the performance. With its 3 acoustically placed air vents, the barrel breathes freely, and you hear a natural response under the mallet. Tube lug shells limit contact with the shaft, enhancing resonance and overall volume. Moulded rubber-lined grips hold the skin without blocking vibration, and the sound retains its open character. The Superior Shell Technology barrel uses plies bonded with exclusive AcoustiGlue, and this bond penetrates the wood to respect its natural consistency. After moulding at high temperature and under high hydraulic pressure, the barrel has a perfectly round air chamber, which helps the warmth and depth of the sound.
