The Pearl PBDML2214A-368 bass drum is based on a 6-ply maple body, a wood known for its balanced response. Thanks to this construction, the sound retains its depth while remaining clear with every strike.
The maple adds a natural roundness that prevents the sound from being too harsh or aggressive. The wide maple hoops contribute to the stability of the tuning, even when the tension is high. The tie rods and claws are designed to withstand intensive use as a marching band. Vents in the body improve projection and help the sound to carry outwards. This allows the bass drum to remain clearly audible in open air.
