QSC KW 122 1000 Watt RMS amplified PA speaker system, Top of the range for the most demanding users
ARTICLE N° 29029
Presentation
Building on the success of the QSC K range, the KW range represents the next step in the evolution of wooden loudspeakers. QSC's system engineers created the KW range to offer all the revolutionary electronic attributes of the acclaimed K range, while designing products that are both smaller and significantly lighter than previous wooden models.

High output :
As in the K range, each of the four models in the KW range features a QSC-designed 1000 watt (2 x 500) Class D power module, and in the tradition of the K range, is fitted with high-efficiency 44 mm HF motors (full-range models) and woofers of equally high design quality, whatever their size.
Defined coverage area:
DMTTM (Directivity Matched Transition) provides matched LF and HF coverage over the entire listening area, eliminating areas of artificially 'dead' or over-present frequencies.
DSP :
From end to end, extensive signal processing delivers levels of sonic clarity and total power that surpass all expectations for a product in this class:
- Intrinsic CorrectionTM, first introduced in our top-of-the-range line array products, applies 65-75 spatially averaged measurements to the RII and RIF crossovers, which actively adjust the time, frequency and amplitude response to achieve optimum bandpass smoothness. The result is a loudspeaker that performs well over the entire sound field.
- DEEPTM and excursion limitation provide extended low-frequency response by actively managing low-frequency transients without degrading the underlying signal or adjacent frequencies.
- GuardRailTM protection, introduced for the first time in our GX range amplifiers, protects both the amplifier module and your performance from unnatural and destructive clipping.
Connectors :
The KW range has a four-position mic/line gain selector that allows you to connect a wide variety of sources. Mixed XLR and 3-pin 6.35 mm jack (TRS) inputs accept mic or line level input, while RCA/cinch inputs (except KW181) allow additional connection of portable MP3 players, CD players and line level mixers. Three audio sources can be mixed internally and summed to a balanced output to 'cascade' multiple units. Separate direct outputs are also provided on each channel for even greater output flexibility.
Control :
Built-in switches provide preset equalizer settings. The HF setting (wideband models) can be set to VOCAL BOOST for extra presence in the critical midrange area or FLAT for faithful reproduction of the incoming signal. The LF switch can be set to NORM, DEEPTM for extra bass extension or EXT SUB (full-range models) for use with an external subwoofer. The rear panel LED switch can be set to POWER, causing the front panel LED to light when the unit is powered, OFF for applications where it is not desirable to have a front panel LED, or LIMIT to alert the system operator when the limiter circuit is activated.
Tilt-DirectTM :
The KW122 and KW152 feature a Tilt-DirectTM mast base mounting system. A simple turn of the knob tilts the loudspeaker by 7.5°, keeping acoustic energy on the audience and away from reflective surfaces in applications where maximum coverage from a tall loudspeaker is required.
Remote gain:
Remote gain control is available via a potentiometer (not supplied) connected to the integrated Phoenix-style connector. In a fixed installation, several KW range loudspeakers can be 'cascaded' for total gain control from a single remote control potentiometer. Automatic power-down mode is activated after 5 minutes of inactivity.
Top-quality materials:
The KW range is designed to withstand the rigours of professional use. Sophisticated manufacturing processes, premium Baltic birch enclosures, ergonomic moulded aluminium handles, low-noise castors (KW181) and a highly protective steel grille make transport easy and ensure long-term durability. Integral M10 suspension points allow suspension applications with a KWM10 kit (sold separately) and a threaded mast receptacle (KW181) allows stable mounting on a threaded speaker mast (supplied).
