The second string is the one you hear the least and the one that throws you off balance the most when it gives way. Placed between the chanterelle and the basses, it has to absorb two contradictory demands: the clarity of the treble and the emerging body of the spun strings. The nylon of the 502CJ responds to this pivotal position with a calibrated vibratory mass - the note emerges without strangulation, with a presence that blends into the register without crushing the neighbouring strings.

Strong tension stabilises the string throughout its vibrating length. Under the pressure of the fingernail or finger, the string does not deviate laterally beyond what is necessary: the pitch holds, and the sound goes straight out without the left hand having to correct its position to make up for wavering intonation.

The 502CJ is sold individually for targeted restocking, whether in a New Cristal set or a Cantiga set - the two compatibility configurations declared by Savarez. On a classical guitar, it takes its place without imposing its colour, which is precisely what we expect from a well-cut second string.
