The CH40B-II French horn has been designed with restless young mouthpieces in mind. Designed to facilitate the first steps without sacrificing accuracy, the CH40B-II model from SML Paris is a gentle, gradual bridge between initiation and musical expression. This Bb horn has a 12 mm bore and a 310 mm bell in lacquered brass. With its rotary pistons and pushrod mechanism assisted by Uniball ball joints, it delivers an immediate, fluid response. The CH40B-II from SML Paris wasn't designed for big blowers with athletic arms. It prefers the halls of music schools, conservatories and bedrooms decorated with crumpled scores.
This Bb French horn has been calibrated for younger players, with its more compact format and a mechanism designed to facilitate the most ergonomic (small) grip possible.
The 310 mm brass bell and 12 mm bore mean you can get to grips with the basics without having to overhaul your skeleton. The rotary pistons respond smoothly and give you a serious idea of what to expect from a standard-sized model. If a grumpy student ends up smiling, it's because the instrument has worked well.
SML Paris has not skimped on useful details to keep the CH40B-II in top form. It arrives in its backpack case, mouthpiece firmly in place, accompanied by a complete maintenance kit from BG. Microfibre cloth, swab for the mouthpiece branch, cleaning glove... everything you need to make sure dust doesn't make an uninvited guest. Barrel oil is also included, to keep the mechanism running as smoothly as a crisp solo.
