The SM-7IP support plate is designed to accommodate JBL 705I or 708I passive loudspeakers. It has 4 oblong holes that can be oriented vertically or horizontally.

The SM-7IP loudspeaker plate (JBL 708I or 705I installation series not powered) has 4 x 50mm holes and 4 x 80mm slots for easy mounting.
This allows for vertical and horizontal orientation when attaching to the SM-SW1 pivot.
