The Vandoren CM135 Black Diamond BD5 is designed to accompany the alto clarinet and basset horn with a full, expressive sound. From the very first notes, this mouthpiece brings out a full timbre, rich in depth and colour. Projection remains natural and delivery is effortless, providing a very comfortable playing experience.
The Black Diamond design, with its reworked interior and exterior, helps to give the instrument greater presence while maintaining a round, balanced sound in all registers. This approach brings out the nuances and musicality of these warm-toned clarinets.
Made from ebonite, a material derived from vulcanised natural rubber, this mouthpiece follows a precise manufacturing process in which the majority of the surface is carefully polished. It can be used with alto clarinet reeds, but also with certain V21 reeds for alto saxophone, giving you plenty of freedom in your choice of material.
