The Zildjian A Classic Orchestral Selection 16" Medium Heavy cymbals take up the spirit of the classic version, but with a greater weight that clearly changes the sound behaviour. We're still talking about a fast, responsive orchestral cymbal, but with more power under the baton and a projection that gains in intensity.
The 16" diameter retains a very direct response, enabling clean, precise attacks, but the Medium Heavy thickness provides a more solid foundation. The sound opens up with a marked brilliance, then develops a broader, denser sustain than the Medium Thin version. As a result, accents stand out better in large ensembles and hold up more easily in powerful tutti.
The sound character remains balanced between clarity and harmonic richness. The cymbal doesn't become aggressive, but it takes up more space in the orchestral spectrum, especially in the midrange and treble. The dual finish (glossy on top, traditional underneath) helps to maintain a good compromise between projection and sustain control.
This model is particularly well-suited to situations where you need a little more presence and power without resorting to cymbals that are too heavy or too long. Straps sold separately.
