The Zildjian A Stadium Medium 20" cymbals are designed for drum corps and marching band situations, where the sound must remain perfectly legible even from a great distance. The aim here is not studio subtlety, but clear, wide and constant projection in open environments such as stadiums or parades.
With their 20" diameter, these cymbals develop a real sonic breadth. The sound is warm and brilliant at the same time, with a fairly fluid diffusion of harmonics that allows the sound to 'carry' far without becoming aggressive. In an outdoor percussion ensemble, they maintain good cohesion while remaining sufficiently present to mark accents.
The Medium weight provides an interesting balance between control and power. Attacks remain clean, with very articulate 'zing' effects that stand out clearly in the overall mix of a percussion ensemble. It's this kind of detail that helps to structure musical phrases in the context of a march or outdoor show.
