Presentation
The Zildjian K Constantinople 18" Medium Heavy Special Selection, sold as a pair, is part of the large family of orchestral cymbals designed to bring density and depth to collective playing. This is a pair designed to have more body and projection than the lighter versions in the series, while retaining the dark, nuanced identity of the K Constantinople.
From the very first strokes, the response is ample, with a warm attack and a very present sound grain. You immediately sense a fuller sound, which quickly settles into the space without becoming aggressive. Harmonics remain rich but controlled, with the low, woody signature typical of the range, allowing the pair to blend into the ensemble while remaining clearly perceptible.
Sustain is generous, with a fine capacity to carry accents and crescendos without losing legibility. It's precisely this extra sonic weight that makes the difference: we retain the finesse of an orchestral cymbal, but with a broader base, ideal for supporting powerful passages or denser writing.
The main target styles are still symphony orchestras, classical and contemporary music ensembles, but also certain formations where the percussion needs to add colour and depth rather than just dry impact. The included leather straps make it easy to grip and control the gesture when playing by hand.
