Zildjian - K0814 14" K Light HiHat Bottom

Zildjian has added its 14-inch K Light Hi-Hat Bottom to the K family, a range where restraint takes precedence over brightness. The tone takes on a dark, almost muted quality, carried by a subtle blend of harmonics that softens every strike. The lower pitch compared to traditional K hi-hats anchors the sound in a muted, full-bodied register, far removed from overly sharp, metallic attacks.

The B20 alloy provides a dense, warm material that carries the low frequencies without hardening the tone. The hammering process creates irregularities on the surface that break up overly pure harmonics and enhance the organic texture characteristic of the K Light series. The medium thickness and medium weight balance the feel in the hand; the cymbal responds without excessive projection or lack of response. The traditional finish leaves the copper’s patina visible, a hallmark of old-fashioned craftsmanship. The 14-inch (355.6 mm) diameter forms part of a range extending up to 16 inches, with larger diameters offering increased volume and projection.

Whether on stage or in the studio, this bottom cymbal is at home in rock, pop, country and jazz – wherever a muted foundation serves the track better than an overly prominent sound.
