Axel Technology - Option GSM pour Macrotel

When a standard telephone line is not available or an installation needs to rely on a mobile network, Axel Technology’s GSM Option for Macrotel provides a second connection channel directly within the telephone hybrid. The Macrotel can thus make and receive calls via the GSM network without altering the basic operation of the audio processing system.

On the Macrotel X1, this option allows the POTS/PSTN line to be replaced by a GSM connection. The Macrotel X2 goes a step further, as it can operate with two GSM lines or combine a POTS line with a GSM line, depending on the chosen configuration. This flexibility allows the system to be adapted to different telephone architectures and ensures a communication solution remains available even when a wired connection is not available.

The mobile connection remains integrated into the Macrotel’s digital processing. The telephone signal therefore benefits from built-in audio functions, including automatic gain control, equalisation, attenuation and dynamic processing. Call handling can also be automated, with the line being answered after a defined number of rings and automatically released upon detection of the hang-up tone.

The Macrotel’s settings can be accessed via its control interface, whilst call information can be logged and then exported to a USB stick. The analogue audio inputs and outputs via XLR also allow the GSM connection to be easily integrated into a mixing console or another audio system.

This option therefore provides a particularly useful extension for installations where telephony needs to remain independent of the fixed-line network, whilst maintaining audio processing suitable for broadcast applications.
