Presentation
The FBCXN36 is a passive crossover network developed by B&C Speakers to accompany the CXN36 series of coaxial loudspeakers, renowned for their compactness and versatility in professional PA applications.
Unlike generic crossovers, this crossover is sized to work in perfect harmony with the electro-acoustic parameters of these transducers, guaranteeing a balanced transition between the bass/midrange section and the coaxial compression driver.
Based on a two-way architecture, the FBCXN36 operates at a cut-off frequency of 1 kHz, a choice consistent with the mechanical and acoustic capabilities of the 4CXN36, 5CXN36 and 6CXN36 models.
This frequency preserves the clarity of the midrange while ensuring a gradual, controlled rise towards the high frequencies, without putting excessive strain on the coaxial motor.
Asymmetrical filter slopes of 12dB/octave and 6dB/octave promote a smooth transition between channels, contributing to a more natural response and improved phase coherence in the crossover zone.
This approach is particularly suited to compact coaxial loudspeakers, where legibility and homogeneity take precedence over too abrupt a separation.
