Behringer - Pack Model D + CAT + Wasp Deluxe

The 70s and 80s saw the birth of the first wave of portable analogue synthesizers and, although they were quickly adopted by a host of famous artists including Jan Hammer, Chick Corea, Rick Wakeman, Jean-Michel Jarre, Isao Tomita and Keith Emerson to name but a few, they were rather temperamental and very expensive.
Behringer is now working hard to recreate these legendary synths, but more reliably and more cheaply.


Based on the authentic synth structure and ladder filter design found in the iconic and legendary synths of the 70s, the Behringer Model D is a three-oscillator analogue synth with a 100% analogue signal path, and a dedicated, fully analogue triangle/square-wave LFO.
It uses matched transistors and JFETs, precision 0.1% thin-film resistors and polyphenylene sulphide capacitors, which allow flexible sound shaping, resulting in very fat bass and tone, incredible distortion effects and progressive organ sounds.
Its 3 VCOs offer a wide range of waveforms for sculpting sound. VCOs 1 and 2 are triangular, triangular/saw, saw, square, wide-pulse and narrow-pulse, while VCO3 features triangular, inverted saw, saw, square saw, wide-pulse and narrow-pulse. What's more, the 3 VCOs can be set over a wide 6-octave range (LO, 32', 16', 8', 4', and 2').


As well as being faithful to the original, Behringer has added a number of new features to the WASP DELUXE:
Each of the two oscillators features three variable waveforms: sawtooth, square wave and an enhanced mode that adds punch and clarity to the oscillator's sound.
Both oscillators can be set over a wide range of 5 octaves (32', 16' 8', 4' and 2').
Oscillator 1's waveform can be adjusted via the Width knob, while oscillator 2 has a pitch control that can be adjusted according to the pitch of oscillator 1 to create really smooth modulation effects. To top it all off, these can be mixed and blended with an external audio signal for a truly unique sound.


The duophonic/paraphonic nature of the CAT allows its two oscillators to be controlled independently.
Keyboard control on the CAT can be set to Mono or Poly.
Poly mode allows VCO1 to generate the highest note played on the keyboard while VCO2 handles the lowest note, allowing two notes to be played simultaneously.
Setting the switch to Mono mode allows VCO1 to generate the lowest note pressed on the keyboard.
The CAT can accept any keyboard controller via a simple MIDI connection.
The signals generated can be modified via the Pitch Bend slider, which can vary the pitch of a note, up or down, by an octave.
Increase this value by up to two octaves by toggling the Octave Shift switch up or down.
Use the Glide slider to change the speed of the transition from one note to another, with up being faster and down being slower.
Combine this with the LFO Freq slider to control the repetition tempo of the LFO and ADSR and you can create some amazing pulsating portamentos.
