Celemony Melodyne 5 Studio, upgrade from Melodyne Editor. Major upgrade for Melodyne Editor users only, offering a full suite of algorithms including the powerful 'Universal' (for entire tracks), and the new 'Percussive Pitched'. The improved 'Melodic' algorithm handles sibilants separately for natural vocal correction. The Chord Track facilitates rapid voicing, while the Fade Tool and Leveling Macro offer precise note-by-note dynamic control. This upgrade transforms Editor into a complete and advanced solution for professional music editing, far beyond the capabilities of a simple editor. Licence available for download.

Presentation
For users of Melodyne Editor, switching to Melodyne 5 studio represents a considerable leap in quality and functionality. Melodyne Editor is a powerful version for editing pitch and time on individual tracks, but Melodyne 5 studio opens the door to a much more complete, intelligent and efficient music-editing environment, with many advanced algorithms and tools that Editor doesn't offer.
Why is Melodyne 5 studio an essential upgrade for Melodyne Editor users?
1. Full range of algorithms and applications : Beyond "Melodic" and "Percussive
- Universal' algorithm: This is the first and main difference. Melodyne Editor concentrates mainly on the "Melodic" and "Percussive" algorithms. Melodyne Studio 5 includes all the algorithms, including the powerful "Universal" algorithm. This algorithm is ideal for working on whole tracks (complete mixes, drum busses, complex pianos) where individual notes can be difficult to separate. It allows you to make adjustments to tempo, quantization and even key changes on complex ensembles.
- New 'Percussive Pitched' algorithm: Although Editor already handles percussion ('Percussive'), Studio 5 introduces 'Percussive Pitched', specially designed for percussive instruments that have a defined pitch (such as congas, tablas, 808 bass synths, or certain electronic drum elements). This gives you much more precise control over the pitch of these elements, beyond the simple manipulation of time or level.
2. Revolution in vocal editing: The improved "Melodic" algorithm and sibilant management.
- Unrivalled vocal quality: The 'Melodic' algorithm (already present in Editor but greatly improved in version 5) offers even more natural and transparent pitch and time corrections for vocals and melodic instruments.
- Surgical sibilant control: This is a major feature that was completely absent from Melodyne Editor. Melodyne 5 studio can now detect and manage sibilants ('s', 'ch', 'f') and breath sounds separately in vocal recordings. You can adjust their volume independently of the pitch of the note, enabling a built-in, non-destructive de-esser that preserves the vocal timbre. No more external de-essers that can affect the entire vocal signal!
- Musical" pitch analysis: The analysis of pitch deviations is more intelligent, leading to corrections that are more psychoacoustically accurate and that better maintain the expressivity of the performance.
3. Simplified harmony and orchestration: The Chord Track and the Chord Grid
- This is a major addition that didn't exist in Melodyne Editor. Melodyne 5 incorporates a 'Chord Track' that interacts with the Note Editor. The software can detect the chords in your song (even from audio) or you can define them manually.
- Harmonisation and correction made easy: You can now quickly adapt edited notes to the harmonic structure of your song. This makes intonation corrections much more intuitive and effective, enables rapid reharmonisations and guarantees harmonic consistency between different tracks, an invaluable advantage in music production.
4. Dynamic control and musicality: the Fade Tool and Leveling Macro
- Dynamic control at note level: The Fade Tool is a powerful new tool for creating fades in and out on individual notes. This gives you precise control over the attack and release of each note, even in polyphonic contexts, which was impossible in Editor without complex steps.
- Dynamics homogenisation: The 'Leveling Macro' is a macro tool that minimises differences in volume between notes. It can increase quiet notes and reduce loud ones, helping to achieve a more even vocal performance without overwhelming the natural dynamics of the performance. It's a much more musical alternative to global compression for this type of task.
5. Workflow and interface improvements
- Improved keyboard shortcut search: The search function is more efficient and the management of custom shortcut sets has been optimised.
- Fewer .mdd files: Management of temporary files has been simplified, which can improve performance and disk space management.
In summary, for Melodyne Editor users:
Upgrading to Melodyne 5 studio transforms your targeted editing tool into a complete audio workstation for music correction and manipulation. You gain access to more powerful and versatile algorithms (such as 'Universal'), revolutionary tools for vocal editing (sibilant management), time-saving harmonic functions (Chord Track) and detailed dynamic control at note level. It's an investment that will enable you to achieve production quality and efficiency far beyond what Melodyne Editor alone can offer.
