The D'Addario EXL165-5 set of 5-string bass strings features a Custom Light 45-135 drawbar for Long Scale instruments. This configuration combines softer high strings with slightly thicker low strings to maintain a good balance of tension. The result is a comfortable playing experience for the bassist on fast parts while maintaining a solid bass base.
Each string rests on a hexagonal core of high-carbon steel, an essential element for stability and precise intonation. The nickel-plated steel purfling enhances note clarity and gives a well-defined attack. The low notes remain firm, while the high strings retain a good brightness.
This type of tension rod is equally suited to fingerpicking, picking and slapping. The set belongs to the XL Nickel series, renowned by many bassists for its consistency and reliability on stage and in rehearsal.
