DAP's DMX / AES-EBU 100M coil corresponds to the type of cable generally used for DMX512 networks and AES-EBU digital audio transmissions, two systems based on a standardised impedance of 110 ohms.

In practical terms, this cable is used to make or extend DMX control lines between a lighting console and spotlights, dimmers or network nodes. In a lighting park, specific lengths are often required depending on the configuration of a stage or fixed installation. A 100-metre reel makes it easy to prepare cables tailored to the real needs of the site.

The structure of the cable has been designed for digital data transmission. The 110 Ω impedance limits signal reflections and data loss, an important point when several fixtures are daisy-chained on the same DMX line. The electrical characteristics of the cable, such as conductor capacitance and linear resistance, also help to maintain stable communication between the equipment.

Shielding also plays an essential role. The cable incorporates a braided shield to reduce the influence of electromagnetic interference from other power cables or electronic systems in the technical environment. The oxygen-free copper conductor helps to maintain signal transmission quality over long distances.

In terms of construction, the outer polyethylene insulation is protected by a black PVC sheath designed to withstand the repeated handling encountered in stage or audiovisual installations. With an external diameter of 6 mm, the cable remains flexible enough to be handled easily while retaining good mechanical strength.
