Sound Processing System
The DBX 520 incorporates the technology of the renowned dbx 902 to offer precise sibilance control in a compact 500-series format. It produces clearer, more natural vocals by reducing harsh frequencies without altering the overall balance of the signal.

Presentation
The DBX 520 is a high-frequency de-emphasis module designed to control excessive sibilance in vocals, instruments rich in high-frequency harmonics and complex audio sources. Based on the design of the legendary dbx 902, it incorporates tried-and-tested technology in a format compatible with the 500 Series modular systems.
Unlike conventional de-essers, which are heavily dependent on the input signal level, the DBX 520 continuously analyses the difference between the high-frequency content and the overall signal level in order to apply consistent attenuation, even when the level varies significantly. It is therefore capable of handling level variations of up to 60 dB whilst maintaining a natural sound.
The module offers variable frequency adjustment from 800 Hz to 8 kHz, allowing the problematic area to be precisely targeted depending on the source being used. The de-emphasis control offers adjustable reduction of up to 20 dB, whilst the HF Only mode isolates the high-frequency band to facilitate adjustment.
With its LED gain reduction indicator, simple controls and compact design, the DBX 520 integrates easily into professional signal processing chains for studio, broadcast, voice-over or PA applications.
