Do you need help?
One lyre is all well and good. Two identical lyres arriving in their flight cases make it much easier to integrate them into a proper lighting rig. The Evolite Fusion 200 BSW Set comprises two Fusion 200 BSWs and a bespoke flight case, so you have a complete kit ready to load, transport and set up.

Each lyre uses a modular white LED source rated at 8,500 K. Its motorised zoom covers a range of 4.5 to 32.9°. This means you can use a narrow beam to create effects in the haze, then widen it to cover a larger area. At 5 metres, evolite specifies 5,400 lux at 4.5° and 1,450 lux at 32.9°.

To create your show, you have access to a 7-colour wheel, 11 static gobos and 7 rotating gobos. This allows you to vary texture, colour and movement without needing multiple fixtures.

The PAN can operate over 360°, 540° or 630°. The position memory helps the moving head find its bearings after being moved, whilst the movement resolution allows you to programme both slow transitions and more dynamic effects.

In terms of intensity, you benefit from a linear dimmer ranging from 0 to 100 per cent and a strobe capable of up to 25 flashes per second. This allows you to switch from a tranquil scene to a much less contemplative sequence in just a few cues.

For control, two DMX modes are available, with 15 or 20 channels. You can also use master-slave control, automatic programmes or sound triggering. The built-in R-DMX module adds wireless DMX reception, which is very handy when you want to minimise cabling on a temporary set-up.

Each moving head has 3-pin XLR IN/OUT connectors and comes with two quick-release 1/4-turn omega brackets. A safety point is also provided for hanging.

Finally, the real benefit of the set becomes apparent at the end of the evening: both units are returned to their dedicated flight case. This means less makeshift handling, tidier storage and a much more logical set-up if your Fusion 200 BSWs are regularly on the road.

Why two lyre fixtures rather than one?

With just two fixtures, you can already create a proper stage layout.

Position them on either side of a DJ booth to create symmetrical movements. At the back of the stage, you can cross the beams or use different Gobos. For a band, they can also frame the musicians with complementary positions and colours.

The zoom really changes the effect

At 4.5°, you get a concentrated beam, which is particularly visible when it passes through fog or haze.

By gradually widening the beam to 32.9°, you can increase the projected area and use the moving head for much broader effects.

So you’re not limited to a single type of beam throughout your entire show.

Why is R-DMX handy?

With standard DMX, each projector must be connected to the previous one via a control cable.

R-DMX allows you to receive the signal wirelessly from a compatible system. This is particularly useful in a venue where running cables is complicated, or for a setup that needs to be assembled and dismantled quickly.

And what about the flight case?

It’s probably the least spectacular part of the kit – until the gig finishes at two in the morning.

Both moving head lights come with packaging designed for transport and storage. For a mobile DJ or event organiser, this means they don’t have to buy a separate protective case for each unit.
