The Gretsch Catalina Club Satin Walnut Glaze 12" x 8" tom is ideal for those who want an instrument that's easy to learn. From the very first strokes, you'll feel a soft, almost elastic response that accompanies the gesture rather than constraining it. This intermediate format helps to structure the playing, with enough body to support the rhythm and enough clarity to remain well defined in the ensemble.

This feeling comes largely from the 7-ply mahogany body. The mahogany gives the instrument a warm, enveloping character, with a midrange that makes every strike legible, even at moderate volume. The 30° chamfers direct the vibration of the skin towards a rounder sound, as if the tom were breathing more, without being harsh or aggressive.

The 1.6mm steel hoops and Gretsch skins made by Remo stabilise the tuning and make it easier to hold. You can concentrate on playing, listening and grooving, without feeling like you're fighting against the instrument.
