Amplifier Heads for Guitar

The Hiwatt P45 Classic is a 45 W tube head that reproduces vintage Blues and Rock tones with precision and warmth. Equipped with KT66 tubes, three-band EQ and the PPIMV system, it delivers a sound that's as clear as it is saturated, perfectly usable at all volumes. Its classic design, vintage knobs and cabinet outputs make this amp ideal for guitarists who want an authentic, flexible sound.

For guitarists looking for that authentic British vintage sound, the Hiwatt P45 Classic is a must-have. This 45W tube head takes the famous Jim Marshall circuit inspired by the Fender Tweed Bassman and magnifies it with modifications by Mitch Colby.

The result is an amp capable of reproducing the warmth of clean tones, the dynamics of classic overdrives and the characteristic grain of '60s blues and rock, while remaining perfectly usable at low volumes thanks to the PPIMV system.

The P45 relies on two KT66 power tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes, delivering a balanced, responsive sound in which every nuance of playing is respected. Channel 2 benefits from a push-pull potentiometer that adds brightness, making this dark channel more versatile depending on the guitar or pickup used. The three-band EQ and presence control shared by the two channels allow the sound to be finely sculpted, from crystal clear to saturated crunch.

Designed for flexibility, the P45 has two outputs for external speakers with selectable impedance (4 Ω, 8 Ω or 16 Ω) and four separate inputs spread across its two channels, to suit all playing configurations. Its black Tolex finish and vintage 'banana' knobs give it a classic, elegant look that's true to vintage British amps.

Compact, robust and true to the original circuitry, the Hiwatt P45 Classic brings together history, precision and musicality in a head capable of rivalling the most sought-after boutique models. Every note, from light picking to saturated soloing, is fully felt, making this amp an ideal tool of expression for detail-oriented guitarists.

Jim Marshall is best known for running a shop where local musicians could meet, swap and try out equipment. He sold his amps worldwide under the Marshall brand, but in the UK he used the name Park Amplifiers. The shop served as a valuable testing ground for new products and kept Jim in touch with the exploding UK music scene. Park amps, often described as 'a bit hotter', are highly sought after in the UK as they are much rarer than their Marshall-branded equivalents.

Mitch Colby has devoted his life to working with Marshall Amplification and has spent a dozen years perfecting the Park range. He's taken the best existing circuits and painstakingly recreated the original sounds and tonal signature of Jim's early days. In addition, Mitch has designed four new amplifiers to carry on the spirit and incredible legacy of Jim Marshall and the Park Amplifiers.
