Ibanez - JGM10 Signature Jon Gomm + étui
An extraordinary guitar for an extraordinary musician. In its shape, to begin with, a Jumbo body, but asymmetrical to combine the roundness of the bass, the brilliance of the treble and the particular ergonomics demanded by Jon Gomm's rich and distinctive playing style, which moves seamlessly from picking to strumming to tapping... The materials used are equally impressive, with a spruce top topped with ebony purfling, Pao Ferro for the back and sides, and a neck dotted with mahogany and Pao Ferro. All captured and amplified by Fishman, with their combination magnetic microphone + acoustic capsule, which perfectly transmits both the playing on the strings and the percussion on the body of the instrument. Nothing less is needed for an artist with such a rich universe.
Presentation
He uses an acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, bass lines and twisted melodies all at the same time.
The emphasis is always on vocals and soulful songwriting, and his original compositions are influenced by many artists, from Robert Johnson to Radiohead.
His shows combine deeply emotional and profoundly human performances, with two-handed playing that is both physical and complex, producing sounds that are scarcely believable with a simple acoustic guitar.
Jon first picked up a guitar at the age of two (actually, it was a ukulele - his parents couldn't find a guitar small enough). He wrote his first song at the age of six and soon accompanied his father, a music critic, to gigs in his home town of Blackpool.
Touring musicians often dropped by the Gomm house on the understanding that Jon would be given a guitar lesson, so he was taught by blues legends such as BB King and Jack Bruce of Cream.
